Carrying out necessary post-harvest activities

CERTIS PHARMA Sp. z o.o.

About the service...

The production of top-quality medical cannabis involves far more than cultivation alone. The key stage with the greatest impact on the final product’s quality, consistency, and safety is the post-harvest phase — i.e. all activities carried out from the moment of harvest through to preparing the raw material for further processing or sale (trimming, drying, curing, packaging, and storage). It is at this stage that the preservation of the cannabinoid and terpene profile, flower integrity, microbiological purity, and product shelf life is ultimately determined.

The post-harvest processes include, among others, optimal harvest timing, controlled drying, curing, appropriate storage, and maintenance of stable environmental conditions. Their correct execution is essential to ensure that the raw material meets all pharmaceutical and regulatory requirements.

Areas of activity

We provide strategic advisory services, training, and development of comprehensive operational documentation in the following areas:

  • Optimal harvest timing: Assessment of flower maturity to maximize quality and ensure compliance with pharmaceutical requirements.
  • Drying and curing: Design and supervision of processes that stabilize the product, enhance its organoleptic properties, and minimize the risk of microbial growth.
  • Trimming (wet & dry trim): Selection of appropriate trimming methods (mechanical or manual), process design, and staff training in techniques that minimize flower damage, reduce losses, and ensure consistent raw material quality.
  • Storage: Selection of storage methods and conditions ensuring long-term chemical and physical stability of the raw material.
  • Environmental control and climate parameters: Definition and monitoring of key parameters (temperature, humidity, airflow) that directly affect product quality and safety.
  • Product quality preservation: Advisory services focused on maintaining product quality, including identification and oversight of critical post-harvest process steps, definition of critical parameters, and support in process validation and qualification to ensure repeatability and GMP compliance. We develop procedures and operational standards that minimize raw material degradation, stabilize product characteristics, and guarantee quality throughout the entire shelf life.
  • Development of standard operating procedures (SOPs): Preparation of complete, GMP-compliant procedures for all post-harvest stages, ensuring process repeatability and regulatory compliance.
